This sterile closed suction catheter is designed for suctioning secretions from the airways of intubated and ventilated patients without disconnecting them from the ventilator. The catheter is enclosed in a transparent plastic sleeve that shields the operator and the environment, and is connected in-line with the breathing circuit. A thumb control valve regulates suction, and an irrigation port allows the lumen to be flushed between suction passes.
