This Mapleson C circuit is a bagging system for manual ventilation. It follows the Mapleson A arrangement — reservoir bag and APL valve at the machine end, tubing to the patient — but uses a small-bore tube, which keeps the volume inside the tubing low and reduces rebreathing from the tube itself. Three versions are available: an adult system with a 2.0 L bag and a 60 cmH₂O APL valve, and paediatric systems with a 0.5 L or 1.0 L closed tail bag and a 40 cmH₂O APL valve.
The small-bore tube is the defining feature of this circuit. A 10 mm internal diameter keeps the volume inside the 1.8 m tube down to roughly 140 mL, compared with around 600 mL for a 22 mm corrugated Mapleson A of similar length. Because less exhaled gas is stored in the tube, less is rebreathed on the next breath.
The result is a lighter and more compact system that is easier to handle during bagging, and it is why Mapleson C circuits are used for manual ventilation, transport and short procedures rather than for long controlled ventilation.
Key Features:
Mapleson C arrangement with a small-bore tube
Low tube volume, which reduces rebreathing from the tubing
Adult version with 2.0 L bag and 60 cmH2O APL valve
Paediatric versions with 0.5 L or 1.0 L closed tail bag and 40 cmH2O APL valve
Luer lock sampling port on paediatric versions
15M patient connector with a 22F adapter supplied
Soft connector included
Applications:
Manual ventilation and bagging
Patient transport
Short procedures
Paediatric ventilation with a smaller bag
Where a lighter, more compact system is preferred over a 22 mm corrugated circuit
Important Notes:
The paediatric versions use a 40 cmH2O APL valve; the adult version uses 60 cmH2O. Use the version appropriate to the patient.
Closed tail bags are used on these systems; do not substitute an open-ended bag.
Check the APL valve setting before use.
Confirm the patient connection: the system is supplied with a 15M connector and a 22F adapter.
Do not use if the package is damaged or opened.
Single use only unless the circuit is specified as reusable.
This product is a breathing system. It requires an anesthesia machine or a fresh gas supply and trained personnel.
