This expandable ventilator circuit has a section that extends and compresses, so the length can be adjusted after the patient has been positioned. It is supplied fully equipped as standard, with two water traps, a limb, a hanger and a gas sampling line, in adult and paediatric sizes. Because there is only one configuration, there is no specification to work through before ordering.
The extendable section is the defining feature of this circuit. It lets the length be adjusted after the patient is positioned, which matters when the patient is moved, when the bed or the ventilator is repositioned, or when the circuit has to reach across equipment. The same section compresses for storage, so a single circuit covers a range of distances that would otherwise need two or three fixed lengths.
The trade-off is that the extendable section adds folds where condensate can collect, so the water traps need to be positioned carefully and checked more often than on a plain corrugated circuit.

The extendable section adds folds where condensate can collect. Position the water traps at the lowest points and check them more often than on a plain corrugated circuit.
Do not allow condensate to drain towards the patient; empty the traps before they reach the fill line.
Check that all connections are secure before use.
Do not allow the tubing to kink or become trapped under the bed or equipment.
